Central Texas Rennie Logo by Skyejcb Central Texas Rennie Logo by Skyejcb
A commission for the San Antonio / Austin area Rennies (yes, it's ren-faire related).
Each creature here represents one of the three people who organize the rennie gatherings.

The autoharp is Marc Gunn: [link]

The raven is Stacy Dunaway:

The dragon is Leslie, aka "Scorch":

And since I created the logo, I put myself in there as the moon ;)

I love the color in this; the subtle oranges really make certain sections come alive. The raven/moon contrast is good, and both are executed very well. If the linked sites are to be trusted, you've probably presented Scorch perfectly: golden, charismatic & leonine. The scale texture is beautiful, the exposed tendons in the hands and feet are strong details, and once again you've nailed the eyes & eye-ridge structures.

The purple in the "joints" of the wing-membranes may be a little too strong. The "fingers" on the forelimbs are a bit sausagy. I wonder if you couldn't tighten the composition by bringing the "root" of the tail back into frame and curving it behind her left (our right) hind leg. It might also help to have the tip of the tail curve back into the center of the piece.

Oh, and another thing about Scorch - I gave her draconian representation "twinkly" claws (those little embellishments that say "shing! shing!" when you look at them). I'm told by Stacy that I couldn't be more accurate since they're sharp and twinkly in real life too. LOL

1. The link sites are to be trusted. All three are friends of mine. I'm more than happy to promote their personal sites. Scorch...Leslie...is exactly how she comes across on the site. She's golden, charismatic, and leonine - just as you said.

2. Thanks for the feedback on the color. Thanks for catching the purple. I thought it a touch strong too, but kept it anyhow.

3. Draconian anatomy...aaah, this is my third dragon attempt. I'll get it right one day. I absolutely adore the feet on this one though. Really had fun with them. The hands? not so much... :slow:

Stacy and Marc both love it, I haven't heard Scorch's review yet.
