Pentre Ifan by Skyejcb Pentre Ifan by Skyejcb
Inspired by the Welsh megalith.

Quick sketch. I don't usually draw such things and figured I needed a little practice. For the poem "The Standing Stones" by authoress (and friend) Rie Sheridan.

The Standing Stones

Ancient guardians
of time and secrets,
the stone giants
lean and whisper
of their youth.

Fair Celtic maidens
and handsome swain
cavorted in their shadows
singing in the dawn.

The whisperers remember
when the age was new,
and shadows had not fallen
across the broad moor.

The Standing Stones
keep well their secrets
teasing with memories
that only the dead
can know.

Nice. Megaliths, Celtic tombs, etc. fascinate me - we know nothing of these people, and I think that's a great loss. Where would their culture have gone, if things had been slightly different somehow? Would they have rivaled the Egyptians? The Mayans? Who knows..

I am completely entranced by megaliths, monoliths, stone circles...such histories that we can never fully understand. Such wonderful mysteries that lie within their creation...
