Wuff and Dook by Skyejcb Wuff and Dook by Skyejcb
Here we witness a very special moment between :iconillahie: and her buddy Duncan that I caught when I visited them in August '07.

"How tasty!", he seems to be thinking, as Illahie proudly presents him to the viewer. (She's such a ham!)

(How I miss you both! :cuddle:)

Medium: Colored pencils & neutral-toned pastel paper

Remarkable work. I like the way in which you've captured the expressions of both so beautifully. The soft tones lend a nice amosphere, and every detail is perfect.

Excellent work, Jen! Great execution, wonderful colors. A little light on the tone contrasts, but I think that works here. :) Great subject and pose! :D

That's remarkable! Beautiful detail and color. Yes, a scanner can really change the piece. So where have you been hiding all this talent? You're always good, but this is remarkable, and more whimsical rather than fantasy. You could illustrate children's book, ala Jan Brett, etc.

In fact, I propose a joint project, that you and I create a children's book, and get it published. I'm not a bad hand at prose and storyline. You are obviously the illustrator. That's just the sort of project I've been trying to come up with lately. What do you think, does that strike your fancy? Might even turn a couple of bucks! :D

I guess I'd have to hear more details about it before being able to commit.
I guess it depends on what you have in mind. You say you've been trying to come up with a project, so have you given any thought to a story or what kind of imagery might be involved?

I need to give it more thought, it was just a spur of the moment suggestion, when the scene you had drawn struck a memory in me of some of the children's books we used to read to our daughter when she was young, 10-15 years ago. It would definitely have some animal imagery in it, that was my first thought when I saw your drawing. And a bit of humor, because I can't do anything without at least a bit of tongue-in-cheek. And some spiritual mysticism. I'm mulling it over as I write this... more later! :)

The scanned version (above) is not as detailed as the original, unfortunately. I even have a new scanner that I had hoped would capture the details of traditional mediums better, but scans are just never the same as the original. However, I did try to go for subtlety in this piece as opposed to a full range of dark-darks and light-lights.

She should be pleased with it.
I'd love to have a ferret -- they're so adorably cute, but it's illegal to own them in California:( I've got one of her pictures of the ferret in the snow in my :+fav:s
